L’OREAL’s Inclusive Sourcing program aims to open the company’s procurement processes to businesses that employ individuals from vulnerable communities, enabling these businesses to secure long-term employment and income. The initiative also targets companies that traditionally struggle to access large-scale bids from multinational corporations.
Given its extensive procurement activities and global presence, L’OREAL has significantly contributed to numerous local integration projects. The company decided to leverage its substantial purchasing power to generate a positive impact beyond its direct operations. By extending their diversity and inclusion strategies to their suppliers, L’OREAL has created what they refer to as an “extended ecosystem.”
The Inclusive Sourcing program was launched by L’OREAL in 2010 as a socially responsible and inclusive procurement initiative. Each year, L’OREAL’s procurement teams collaborate with suppliers to allocate a significant portion of their budget toward developing inclusive programs. This opens up bidding opportunities to companies employing individuals from vulnerable communities, allowing them to secure lasting employment and income. Moreover, the program is designed to include companies that traditionally have not had access to large multinational bids.
The Inclusive Sourcing program includes categories such as fair trade producers, companies that employ people with disabilities, socially inclusive enterprises, or businesses owned by minority groups (where local laws permit).
This program encompasses all procurement categories, including raw materials, packaging, contract manufacturing, promotional and retail, marketing, commercial services, logistics, industrial supplies, media, and CMI. It has been deployed across all regions where L’OREAL operates.
