After completing the registration, businesses must submit a certification application and may need to select the appropriate assessment scope and modules, such as Environment, Labor Rights, Fair Trade, and Ethics Governance.
2.Does EcoVadis Certification Require On-Site Audits?
No, an on-site audit is not required. Businesses only need to respond to the questionnaire on the platform and submit relevant evidence. However, after submitting the questionnaire, EcoVadis may arrange for a third-party certification agency to conduct an on-site audit. To date, this has not been a common practice.
3.Are the EcoVadis Questionnaires the Same for Every Company?
No, EcoVadis questionnaires are not the same for every company. The questionnaire is tailored according to the industry and size of the company. Typically, it is divided into four parts: Environment, Labor & Human Rights, Business Ethics, and Sustainable Procurement. However, for smaller companies with fewer than 25 employees, the questionnaire may only include three sections without Sustainable Procurement.
4.What Is the Validity Period of an EcoVadis Certification?
The validity of the EcoVadis scorecard is 12 months. Every year, companies need to re-evaluate their CSR performance and update their information to maintain compliance and improve their sustainability management level.
5.Does EcoVadis Evaluation Need to Be Renewed Every Year? How Early Can It Be Renewed?
If the client requires it, EcoVadis evaluation must be renewed every year. Otherwise, after the expiration, the evaluation result in the system will no longer be displayed and cannot be shared with clients. Renewals can generally be done three months before the expiration date, and EcoVadis will send email notifications. It’s important to note that EcoVadis assumes companies will continue to renew the subscription after registration. If no renewal is needed, companies must contact the EcoVadis platform early to cancel the subscription.
6.Which Famous Companies Require EcoVadis Evaluation for Suppliers?
Many well-known brands currently require their suppliers to undergo EcoVadis evaluation. These brands include: Nestlé, Estée Lauder, L’Occitane, Shiseido, Dior, Sephora, LVMH, Hennessy, Faurecia, BASF, Bayer, Lanxess, Henkel, and more.
7.Other Important Notes About EcoVadis
EcoVadis Charges via Credit Card: If the certification is not required for the next year, companies need to cancel their subscription on the platform in time. Otherwise, the platform will automatically charge the subscription fee again.
Score Display Cycle: The score display is on an annual cycle, from January 1st to December 31st. For example, if Top Jewelry’s score of 49 was assessed in April, the report will no longer be visible after January of the following year. Therefore, it is recommended to complete the assessment earlier in the year to maximize the display period of the score.
